“A successful auction doesn’t just happen – it’s planned!”
Greetings Fellow Numismatics!
We invite you to consider RJ's Auction Service for your coin and currency buying and selling needs. We have been in the business of providing coin buyers and sellers with a convenient, inviting, and lucrative means to obtain and sell coins for the past 17 years. We offer in-house and on-line bidding, quality photograph presentation on-line and also in-house with three large viewing screens, quick shipping, and professional reconciliation after the auction.
We have a very good turnout for Coin & Currency Auctions. We have registered bidders that
come to our auction facility and another 140 bidders that registered with Proxibid – our nationwide on-line proxy auction of choice for the past 3 years.
We expect our coin auctions to finish around 9:30 pm. Refreshments are always provided.
You may consign as few or as many lots (groups) of coins/currency as you like. Lots with a minimum value of thirty-five dollars ($35.00) work best for our coin auctions. A list of descriptions or suggested grouping is welcomed, however, I will decide the final grouping and order of sale based on what is best for the auction as a whole.
Reserves will be allowed on any item under the following conditions. The number of lots with reserves will be restricted to twenty percent of the total number of lots in your consignment (no exceptions). Please note that if you place a reserve on a lot there will be a seven-dollar ($7.00) “Marketing Fee” per lot that does not sell or sells at your reserve. The deadline for consigning items to
these auctions is 12 o’clock noon on the second Wednesday before the auction. Items received after that time will be held for our next coin auction.
Please call the auction house or consult the web page for exact dates of
deadlines.
The commission rates below apply to those consignments that arrive “Auction-Ready,” which means coins are in clean flips, 2 X 2s, or albums. Currency must also be in standardize currency holders or albums. A worksheet must also be provided that gives the following information: description of item, quantity, grade/condition (not necessary if items are graded by a independent third party grading service or you do not want a grade or condition included), your group/lot preference (if any), and reserve amount (if any).
Please note, items that require more sorting, separating, organizing, repackaging, or additional handling will be charged a higher commission. The commission rate charged in these instances will depend on how much addition work and repackaging is needed to get your items ready to sell.
All expenses will be deducted from the proceeds of the auction. Any unsold lots will be returned after the auction has been reconciled. Unsold items may either be picked up in person or mailed at consignor’s expense.

If you have items you would like to consign, know someone that does, or if you have questions about consigning items please give me a call. My office number is 785-793-2500. My cell phone is 785-224-4492. Please call before bringing your items in. Our hours of operation are 10:00 to 5:00 Monday thru Friday (except holidays).
I have been asked about consignors bidding on their own coins. The law that covers this question is found in Federal Statutes, The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). Paraphrasing, the UCC states it is unlawful for a seller to bid on their own items either directly or indirectly unless one of the following conditions has been met. The auctioneer announces that the auctioneer/auction company, as agent for the seller, reserves the right to bid on behalf of the seller. Or, the auctioneer announces that the seller reserves the right to bid on his/her own behalf.
It has been our company policy since we started 17-years ago, and will continue to be our policy, that no seller may bid on any item that they consignor either directly or indirectly. Any violation will be dealt with accordingly.
A 5% buyer’s premium has been in effect at our coin and currency auctions since January 2010.
